Foundry

Discharge from the copper furnace The latest technologies ensure an economical use of energy, rational production methods, constantly high quality standards and a wide range of products in the foundry. The complete range of copper-based NF alloys are cast here. The inductively heated furnaces for smelting and casting have a capacity of up to 50 t. A power-saving automatic smelting system, discontinuous vertical continuous casting plants and automatic steel level controls optimise the production of the ingots, which reach a world record at weights of up to 25 t. We can guarantee a perfect analytical control of both the feedstock (waste and new metals) as well as the smelted material.

Environmental protection plays an important role in this particularly sensitive corporate division: every single casting and smelting unit is connected to a separate filter system. The necessary cooling water is taken from a recirculating system which is passed through cooling towers and continuously treated. 100 % of any waste which is produced is recycled.

Charcoal in the copper furnace The foundry contains 6 smelting and 3 casting furnaces, whereby two smelting furnaces feed one casting furnace. The furnaces are induction crucible furnaces. They are computer-controlled so as to achieve the maximum possible energy efficiency.

The finished slab is cut at both ends with a saw. Various slab dimensions are cast: thicknesses from 230 to 320 mm, widths from 650 to 1,250 mm and lengths up to a max. of 8,500 mm.
