Copper and brass has been produced and processed in Stolberg for almost 500 years. And for more than two decades, Schwermetall Halbzeugwerk GmbH & Co. KG has been a successful part of this tradition. Founded in 1972, the company has grown from modest beginnings into the world's biggest and most up-to-date manufacturer of pre-rolled strips. It is owned by Aurubis Stolberg GmbH & Co. KG and Wieland-Werke AG, Ulm, both with a 50% holding. Up to 1,000 tons of strip in all CU basic alloys leave our factory daily. Product for daily use as well as special products are then manufactured from our semi-finished materials. Examples include the building trade, the automotive, electronics and telecommunications industries. When it comes to the manufacture of Euro coins, we produced 25% of the total feedstock required in the EU of 550,000 t. Our products are in demand on all of the world's five continents. Technical and qualitative superiority, flexible organisational structures and highly motivated employees have enabled this dynamic development. It has also been favoured, however, by an almost perfect synthesis of economy and ecology which has pervaded all stages of production since the company's foundation. The company's location on the borders of the Nordeifel National Park and in the heart of a historical cultural and natural landscape puts us under an obligation: environmental protection ranks highly in the corporate philosophy. This creates confidence not only in the region, but also amongst international business partners.
